New Legally Blonde Prequel Elle Slated for Next Summer
Get ready to bend and snap again as the highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series will premiere on Prime Video next summer.
The streaming platform officially announced the premiere window during its recent upfront presentation in New York City, exciting fans of the iconic franchise.
The series will star Lexi Minetree as a teenage Elle Woods, years before her famous Harvard Law days. Viewers will see all the life events, challenges, and ambitions that shaped Elle into the fierce, fashionable, and ambitious woman first introduced in the beloved 2001 film. The film, created by Laura Kittrell, who also produced High School and Insecure, promises a fun, heartfelt dive into Elle’s younger years.
This coming-of-age series is produced by Reese Witherspoon, who famously originated the role of Elle, through her media company Hello Sunshine, now a part of Candle Media. Kittrell also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. Lauren Neustadter and Marc Platt join Witherspoon as executive producers, while Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore will helm the first two episodes.
In an Instagram video, Witherspoon surprised Minetree with the news that she had been cast as young Elle Woods, which quickly went viral among fans. The young actress, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed her gratitude and excitement for taking on the iconic role.
A Cast with Heart and Humor
Joining Minetree are June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mom, Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father, Wyatt. The ensemble cast also includes Gabrielle Policano, who will portray Liz. Jacob Moskovitz as Miles, Chandler Kinney as Kimberly, and Zac Looker as Dustin. There will also be returning appearances by Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Jessica Belkin, Lisa Yamada, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, and Kayla Maisonet.
