Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson Lead New Voicemails for Isabelle
Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson will star in Leah McKendrick’s new rom-com, Voicemails for Isabelle. The Netflix film will start filming this July in Vancouver, Canada.
According to an exclusive with Deadline, “Deutch will play a young woman who copes with her sister’s death by leaving her voicemails chronicling her chaotic life in San Francisco. When the number is unknowingly reassigned, an elusive Austin real estate agent begins receiving the hilariously confessional messages.”
Deutch is known for her work in Juror #2, Before I Fall, and Set It Up. Voicemails for Isabelle is similar to Set It Up as they are both Netflix rom-coms. The film was released in 2017; however, it resurfaced on the internet with the rise in popularity of co-star Glen Powell.
Recently, the actress won an Audience Choice Award for Favorite Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in Grover’s Corners: Our Town. The production was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
Moreover, Nick Robinson isn’t new to the rom-com world, where he is recognized for his performances in Everything, Everything, and Love, Simon.
Director Leah McKendrick is known for the fertility comedy Scrambled. Not only did McKendrick write and direct the film, but she also starred in it. In addition, she wrote her upcoming project, I Know What You Did Last Summer, slated to release in July.
Voicemails for Isabelle will be produced under the production company Escape Artists. Becky Sanderman, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are the executive producers on the project.
The streamer has produced several high-achieving rom-coms such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Someone Great, and Always Be My Maybe. With two well-established actors and an experienced director, it will be interesting to see if Voicemails for Isabelle will follow in these films’ footsteps and build a reputation for romance Netflix originals.
Until its release, stream some of your favorite rom-coms on Netflix.
