Doyoung Announces Second Solo Album Soar, Everything to Know
NCT’s Doyoung will make his solo comeback with his highly anticipated second album, Soar, scheduled for release on June 9.
The announcement marks his first solo comeback since his debut album, Youth, which dropped on April 22, 2024. The album received widespread praise for its emotional depth and vocal artistry, with standout tracks like “Little Light,” “Beginning,” and “Time Machine” quickly becoming fan favorites.
The Road to Soar
In the lead-up to his new release, fans can look forward to teaser content throughout May and June, including concept images, videos, diary entries, and cryptically labeled “dreams” and “memories.” Doyoung will perform live before the release as part of the album’s promotional schedule. He is confirmed to appear at the Seoul Jazz Festival on June 1 and will hold a two-day solo concert in Seoul from June 14 to 15, shortly after the album drops.
The album’s intro video, “Wake From The Dark,” was released on May 19 via NCT’s official YouTube channel. The track, which serves as the album’s lead single, is a modern rock song that introduces the emotional themes of Soar.
The video features poetic, dreamlike imagery that transitions between day and night, visually expressing motifs of awakening, self-discovery, and emotional depth. It sets a dramatic tone for the rest of the album and invites listeners into Doyoung’s introspective journey.
On May 20, SM Entertainment unveiled the full track list for Soar, revealing a ten-song lineup that includes:
- “Wake From The Dark”
- “Memory”
- “Be My Light”
- “First Step”
- “Just Friends”
- “Luminous”
- “Still”
- “Sonnet”
- “Sand Box”
- “Eternity”
The track titles suggest a reflective and emotionally layered narrative throughout the album.
Beyond the Stage
Outside of music, Doyoung has established himself as a versatile entertainer. He has appeared in multiple television series over the years, including Lipstick Prince (2016–2017), King of Mask Singer (2019), Law of the Jungle (2019), Midnight Cafe – The Curious Stalker (2021), and Master in the House (2022–2023).
His charisma has also made him a sought-after host for major events, including the Circle Chart Music Awards in February 2023 (alongside Miyeon from I-dle) and the SBS Gayo Daejeon Summer special in July 2024 (co-hosted with Yeonjun from TXT and An Yu-jin from IVE).
Soaring Toward a New Chapter
With Soar, Doyoung will continue to prove his strength as a solo artist while further expanding his artistic identity. The blend of rock influences, poetic visuals, and personal storytelling signals an artist unafraid to explore the more introspective corners of his journey. As the release date draws near, fans can expect an emotionally resonant album that solidifies Doyoung’s place as one of K-pop’s most compelling solo voices.
