Throughout the first season, fans watched Joanne, a sex podcast host, and Noah, a rabbi, navigate their sweet yet complicated relationship. As the finale approached, tensions rose when Noah was offered the head rabbi position at his temple, forcing him to choose between his dream job and the woman he loves. At the same time, Joanne faced her own dilemma: balancing her love for Noah with staying true to herself.

In the end, they choose each other, leaving the audience wanting to see more of the pair, which they will this season.

Creator Erin Foster told TUDUM that this season will focus on how their relationship deepens and is likely challenged as they pass through the “honeymoon phase.”

“It’s such an interesting part of every relationship when you now have to see if you can make it work with each other’s friends, day-to-day routines, and how you handle the milestones that come in those first few months together, from holidays, birthdays, and what you each think the future should look like.”

Returning this season are core cast members Kristen Bell (Joanne), Adam Brody (Noah), Justine Lupe (Morgan), Timothy Simons (Sasha), and Jackie Tohn (Esther).

This season introduces some fan-favorite guest stars, including Brody’s wife, Leighton Meester, who portrays Abby, Joanne’s former middle school nemesis turned mommy blogger. “Getting to create such a fun role for Leighton to play and getting to write her and Adam in a scene together was such a thrill for the writers’ room,” Foster stated

Also appearing on this season are Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, and Arian Moayed.

Nobody Wants This became an instant hit, garnering 15.9 million viewers in its first week, making it the most-watched English title at the time. As social media got hold of the series and that kiss made its way around, fans wanted more.

Critics agreed, with the series earning nominations from the Emmys, Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globes, TCAs, SAG Awards, and the Writers Guild. At the time, Brody took home Best Actor in a Comedy Series at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This premieres on October 23 on Netflix
