Serena Williams Makes Us All Cry with Her “Dear Mom” Reddit Post
Serena Williams gave birth to a baby girl on September 13 and she is still in shock about it.
“I was looking at my daughter (OMG, yes, I have a daughter) and she has my arms and legs!” says Williams in her Reddit post.
She then continues to talk about all that she has had to go through in her life. She has been called a man and it has been said she was on performance enhancing drugs due to her physical strength. Now that she is a mother, she can’t wrap her head around how her mother never went off on any of those people saying those nasty things. She continued, “But mom, I’m not sure how you did not go off on every single reporter, person, announcer and quite frankly, hater, who was too ignorant to understand the power of a black woman.” Serena is proud of her body and is glad that her and her family can show girls that they don’t have to be little and petite to be beautiful, they can be strong.
In this well written post, Williams continues on to thank her mother for being the role model she needed. She hopes to be half the women and mother to her baby, Alexis Olympia.
Moms are amazing. They are the backbone of the world and yes, they are always right. Take some time today to tell your mother how much you love and appreciate her.
