Amber Rose Takes Action Against Rape Culture

Amber Rose’s annual Slut Walk is so much more than what it sounds like. The Slut Walk started after an aray of protests started in Toronto in response to a police officer saying “women should avoid dressing like sluts” if they don’t want to get sexually harassed. The Slut Walk became an annual festival.
Amber Rose put this walk together to stand against derogatory labels, slut shaming, victim blaming, rape culture, and double standards. She believes that women should be able to do what they want without being shamed for it. As women, we have always been victims of inequality and the Slut Walk is working to change that.
Many people showed up to this years Slut Walk in downtown Los Angeles, California including Amber’s boyfriend 21 Savage. Everyone is encouraged to wear whatever they want. The Slut Walk creates a safe space for everybody. Some people brought signs that said “Black Lives Matter.”
In an interview, Amber stated, “We need to start with our boy, we need to start with our sons. We need to talk to our fathers, and our uncles, and really educate them that as women we shouldn’t have to teach other women how to be safe.”
