The Weeknd Teams Up With Marvel Comics

The Weeknd is getting is own comic book thanks to Marvel

The Weeknd announced the collaboration while at the New York Comic Con last weekend. The comic, named “Starboy,” and is set to be released sometime in 2018. The only thing that is known is the cover of the comic.

The Weeknd had been teasing his fans with close-up clips of the comic cover for a few days on his Twitter and Instagram. He also blacked out his Instagram for a few days with the red background the comic version of The Weeknd is set against.

The comic was named after The Weeknd’s third album “Starboy.” The album was released in 2016 and featured songs like “Starboy,” “Party Monster,” “False Alarm,” and “I Feel It Coming.”The Weeknd said in an interview about the comic that “Starboy is the next chapter in this chronicle, this saga…I guess this is the fourth chapter. He’s a character that we created. It’s so funny; we want to create a comic out of him, as well. … He’s a cool, dope character that makes appearances a lot on the album. He’s definitely made his appearance in different records in the past, as well. He’s a more braggadocious character that we all have inside of us.”

The collaboration between Marvel and The Weeknd is the latest in a long line of projects created with musicians. Marvel also announced it would team with the Black Eyed Peas earlier this year, and has been releasing variant covers that homage classic Hip-Hop album cover art since 2015.
