Nicki Minaj Speaks Out Against The Misogyny In Hip Hop
She is not here the for sexist viewpoints of female rappers.
It is no secret that women in hip-hop are not given the same praise as their male counterparts. Nicki Minaj recently tackled this issue in a series of tweets Wednesday evening. It all stemmed from a comment made by rapper Russ in a Rap Radar interview, where he stated, “You know who else people really need to start putting respect on is Nicki Minaj — period.” From this post, Nicki Minaj agreed and went on to add her own personal statement.
In any field, women must work TWICE as hard to even get HALF the respect her male counterparts get. When does this stop?

Putting ppl in the same sentence as me after my 10 years of consistent winning. What are you teaching THEM? They’d never do this to a man.

As one of the biggest artist and female rappers that has broken many records, it is understandable how this could be frustrating. As a woman, Nicki Minaj has shown young women that they can compete and dominate in a male based career. Her tweets are justified and it is not fair for her to still be mentioned as if she is not one of the best. Nicki Minaj has won countless awards, surpassed legend records, and worked with some of the greats. She should be discussed as one of the best. New music is expected to come soon and we are rooting for Nicki Minaj to prove everybody wrong.
