Sherri Papini Still Missing a Year Later

Sherri Papini went missing on November 2, 2016 while out on a jog near her and her family’s California home.22 days later, on Thanksgiving, a driver spotted Papini on a road 150 miles away from her hometown of Redding. The mother told police that she had been abducted by two Hispanic women that were armed.

This was the news story that made headlines everywhere almost a year ago, as no one expected to find Sherri alive or let alone released by her captors. After her safe return, there was a slew of media coverage around the family- from her husband releasing a statement of his wife’s condition to People Magazine (he told the publication that his wife was starved, beaten, and branded) to an episode of “Dateline” surrounding the case.

To make sure the integrity of the case stays intact, along with Sherri’s poor recollection of events, many details of the case are either missing or being withheld at this time.

Shasta sheriff’s did release a piece of information regarding DNA found though. “The male DNA was compiled from the clothing Sherri was found wearing.” While she was given clothing to wear by the two women who abducted her, it is unclear who the DNA belongs to.

There was also questions swirling around the online relationship she had with a Michigan man. Her husband Keith, who took care of all the interviews these past 11 months, never hinted at infidelity. While the sheriff’s office ruled out the acquaintance, they did not mention if the relationship Sherri had with the man was romantic.

The sheriff’s department is still working closely with the FBI, as they believe this is a viable abduction case.

What do you think happened to Sherri Papini? Is it all a hoax, or an actual case of abduction?
