Luke Bryan Opens Up About Past Tragedies in ABC Special
The country star sat down with ABC’s Robin Roberts for the special Living Everyday: Luke Bryan, which aired on Monday.
Though Bryan has found an immense amount of success and stardom, he has always been able to stay grounded with the help of his family. But he and his family has experienced plenty of heartache over the years as well.

“It was April 6th, 2007 and I get to play the grand ole opry for the first time. That night little did I know would be my sister and I would be our last photo together and she passed away a month later. That’s been one thing about my family and our loss, just when we started picking up the pieces with my brother, then my sister, we lose my sister and I just watched my mother and our whole family just go back to square one,” Luke told Roberts.
Luke’s brother died over a decade ago in a car accident before he lost his sister in 2007.
Since his brother in law died unexpectedly in 2014, Luke and his wife Caroline decided to take in their three teenage children as if they were their own.
While Luke and his family have experienced so many lows, they continue to fight on. “Well, you keep going and you try to, try to be as positive as you can, and you try to appreciate every day. You’ll never get back to 100 percent. You’ll always be working to get back to 75 percent,” Bryan said.
Luke is nominated for Entertainer of the Year at this year’s CMA Awards.
