Pharrell is preparing more for the future than ever possible.

In hopes to raise awareness for climate change, Pharrell has just recorded a new song that will not be released until 2117. He premiered it to the 100 people invited to an event in Shangai hosted by Louis XIII cognac. The song is called ‘100 Years‘ to commemorate the number of years it takes to make a bottle of Louis XII- a high-end Cognac de France.

According to Pharrell, there seems to be an issue with how humans are treating the environment and he wants to make a statement about that for the future. This PSA, however, is not directed to older people. The new generation is the audience Pharrell wants to hear. The track was recorded on a clay disc that can only be destroyed by water, so if the sea level rises the record will dissolve and no one will ever hear it again.

Kids now are like, ‘Those are your rules.’ They have a different appreciation of how to treat the world. They think about things in a very different way.” Pharrell stated in a Vogue interview.

Pharrell is using his platform in a great way to bring light to issues that may be overlooked to some. Hopefully, this song he releases in 100 years is able to embrace the change that has been made or reminds people what they need to do.
