Actresses Will Wear All Black at the Golden Globe Awards to Protest Gender Inequality

They are taking the #MeToo movement to the red carpet.

It is being reported that actresses will wear all black to the Golden Globe Awards to make a statement about gender inequality and sexual harassment. Multiple women and men have spoken out against the sexual harassment they have suffered in Holywood. With all of the reports of sexual harassment in Hollywood that have gone into headlines recently have charged this movement to take on the red carpet.

The #MeToo movement, which was created by activist Tarana Burke, took social media by storm and now is coming to a bigger platform. Filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom believes her 2014 documentary on women on the red carpet ties into this protest by using the hashtag #AskHerMore. “AskHerMore is fundamentally about treating women as full human beings rather than objects. And I think #MeToo is about the same thing,” Newsom stated. If women are wearing all black, it forces people to dig deeper and touch on more important subjects than what the person is wearing.

Dustin Hoffman faces allegations from 4 different women who were minors at the time.

We are excited to see the impact this protest makes. The Golden Globe Awards will air January 9th.
