Bella Thorne Opens up About Abuse

Bella Thorne opened up on Instagram about the abuse she suffered as a child.

In her caption the actress writes about how she was “mistreated” at a young age. She also writes how she finally had the courage at 14-years-old to lock her bedroom door at night so she wouldn’t be abused. She made the post as a part of the #TimesUp campaign. Thorne is the latest actress to co-sign the #TimesUp initiative, a campaign that promotes social equality in Hollywood.

I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14..when I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it. All damn night. Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again. Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did. But some of us aren’t as lucky to get out alive. Please today stand up for every soul Mistreated. #timesup

Thorne responded via Twitter and said “Yeah I was. So it wasn’t Disney.” She followed up her tweet with another one saying, “The world can be a sick place sometimes :/”
