Rowan Blanchard, Alfre Woodard and Jurnee Smollett-Bell Speak at 2018 Women’s March LA

The trio took the stage to deliver emotional messages during the second annual event.
After speaking at last year’s march in Los Angeles, Rowan Blanchard returned to the stage again, but with some familiar faces, Alfre Woodward and Jurnee Smollett-Bell. This year as Blanchard took a step aside, Woodward shined declaring Saturday a “great day of recommitment, joy, and determination.”
Woodward beckoned, “Who are we? That’s the question. What are we going to do? We will continue to build. We will continue to reason together.” Woodward is a long time activist, having worked on every presidential election since 2000, going door-to-door to encourage citizens to practice their right to vote. Given this year’s mantra “Power to the polls,” Woodward was the perfect woman to take the stage and address the intersectionality of political, social, and racial issues.
Baring “Time’s Up” shirts and “I Am Trayvon” pins, the three took the stand to declare messages of solidarity and optimism. During Woodward’s speech, you could see Blanchard and Smollett-Bell cheering on the woman beside them while showering her with love.
