During her visit, McCarthy wishes Ellen a happy belated birthday and apologizes in advance for any birthday party actions that may occur such as any dance challenges and chest bumps. “Dear Ellen,” McCarthy said as the audience laughed during this “documentation.” “I want to apologize to you in advance or what I like to call a pre-apology for my behavior and if I dance challenge you. And I will replenish the liquor I drink. But a chest bump is probably coming at you, I’m sorry but happy birthday.”

Melissa McCarthy also talked about her daughters Georgette, who is seven years old and is already experimenting with a face full of makeup and her older daughter Vivian, who shares Melissa’s passion in interior decorating. Melissa also mentioned her two new dogs, Homer and Harper, and described them as “super pretty but they’re not that smart.”

McCarthy also discussed her and her husband comedian/actor Ben Falcone’s new film Life of the Party. In honor of the mother-daughter college-themed movie, Ellen and Melissa surprised audience members Chassidy Jackson-Goodwin and her daughter Jaida Jackson from Lincoln, Nebraska to play a game of beer pong, which is the Life of the Party version.

Chassidy’s daughter Jaida, who is a Junior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, wrote a letter to Ellen explaining how Chassidy had to put her college education on hold because she wanted to focus on raising her as a single parent. Chassidy had always dreamed of going back to college but is unable to afford the tuition.
