Meet the Upcoming Fashion Designer Who Makes Clothes Using a 3D Printer

18-year-old fashion designer Shami Oshun taught herself how to 3D print this past August after realizing her designs couldn’t be created traditionally.
Shami realized her passion for fashion design when she was 15, and founded her fashion brand in May 2015. However, it wasn’t until August 2017 when she discovered she could use 3D printing to make certain designs come to life. According to her website, a fashion piece can take anywhere from 14-40 hours to make.
In celebration of Black History Month, Shami shared a tweet reflecting on how far she has come since her early days as a fashion designer.
Hi Twitter, my name is Shami Oshun. I am 18. I taught myself how to 3D print in August 2017. As of today I am the youngest person and first black person to 3D print fashion. I hope this inspires other black girls to pursue careers in tech and fashion 💙 #BlackHistoryMonth pic.twitter.com/OST0ScgttM
