BET + BET Her Sponsors Black Women in Media NYC Event
BWIM, Black Women in Media, sponsored by BET and BET Her, works to empower and inspire women within the community to dominate in their field of work.
BWIM will host an annual awards ceremony that consists of many women in today’s society who are dominating in media. This year’s nominees include our very own Nikki Fowler, publisher and editor-in-chief of Glitter Magazine, which was founded in 2006, Love & Hip-Hop New York‘s Yandy Smith-Harris, co-host of The Breakfast Club Angela Yee, actress DeWanda Wise, political commentator Dr. Wendy Osefo, activist and national co-chair of the Women’s March Tamika D. Mallory, and so many more powerful black women.
The past honorees included Beverly Bond, founder of Black Girls Rock, TV and radio personality Bevy Smith, author and journalist Demetria Lucas, award-winning radio personality Deja Vu, Editor at large at Essence Magazine Mikki Taylor, and so many more.
Along with honoring black women who are dominant in fields of Communications, Journalism, Entertainment, Television, and Radio, this event will also host intimate sessions with women from all of these fields to allow the audience to learn and become inspired.
Black women can also begin to share their success and “Black Girl Magic” in a mentorship initiative starting in April of this year.
Black Women in Media event will take place in New York on March 28-29. Check out their website for more information, a list of all their honorees and tickets.
