Selena Gomez seemed to have a great day on a yacht in Australia with friends.
Once photos started to appear of Selena in a bikini she started to take notice of what people were saying about the photos. Fans were praising Selena for not being ashamed of her scars and bravely showing them off. The problem with that is people are making it seem like scars are normally something to be ashamed of.
Selena Gomez posted a video of her day out on the water with a very fitting caption, “The beauty myth – an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self-consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone.”
Selena also does not want to be praised for something like this. She is just trying to live a normal life and having scars is a part of life. Selena’s post helped people see how they should not praise her for something that is so normal.
