Starbucks Arrestees Demonstrate Selflessness

(Shuttershock)

Starbucks arrestees Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson have taken the altruistic route in their legal settlement with the city of Philadelphia.

On April 12th, 2018, two black men were unjustly arrested at a Starbucks in the city of brotherly love for sitting inside the restaurant without making a purchase.

These men were Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, who have since made national headlines as some of the most recent victims of racial profiling in the United States. The men settled with the city for a symbolic $1 each, and a promise from officials to set up a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs.

“We thought long and hard about it, and we feel like this is the best way to see that change that we want to see,” Robinson told The Associated Press, “It’s not a right-now thing that’s good for right now, but I feel like we will see the true change over time.”

All things said, it is extremely heartening to see these two upstanding men turn the racism that wronged them into opportunities for the youth of America.
