Ryan Reynolds Discusses His Struggle with Anxiety
Ryan Reynold opened up about his lifelong battle with anxiety in a recent interview with the New York Times.
Amidst the hype over Deadpool 2, the 41-year-old actor felt that it was time to get real about his mental health issues. In the interview, he explained, “I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety,” adding, “Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun.”
This is not the first time that Reynolds has admitted to having trouble with anxiety. In a 2017 interview with Variety, he confessed that it was his wife, Blake Lively, who got him through the stress of filming the first Deadpool movie.
Even People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” of 2010 has struggled with mental health issues, and the fact that he’s willing to talk about it so openly should be an encouragement to all of those who are struggling. There truly is no shame in being honest about these problems because it is the only way to face them.
