FKA Twigs Recovers from Uterine Fibroid Removal
Tahlia Barnett, or FKA Twigs, recently underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove six fibroid tumors from her uterus.
The British singer, songwriter, producer, director, and dancer got real about her health scare on Instagram.
First stating that she had been considering whether or not to share this very personal matter with her fans, she explained that her tumors were the size of two cooking apples, three kiwis, and a couple of strawberries, describing the medical situation as “a fruit bowl of pain everyday.”
The thirty-year-old added that her nurse equated the size and weight of the tumors to a six-month pregnancy and that she doubted her body would ever feel the same again. She also wrote that her, “confidence as a woman was knocked.”
While she had the surgery back in December, the star only just now opened up about the traumatic experience to rejoice that she is finally feeling like her “strong self” again. She took the time to sympathize with other women who have also suffered from fibroid tumors, calling them “amazing warriors,” signing off with the line: “and with this I let go of the pain… love always twigs 🌱.”
