Gear up for the Outfest Film Festival This July

The Outfest LGBTQ Film Festival is taking place in Los Angeles for eleven days of incredible films, parties and panels.

From July 12th to the 22nd, an audience of more than 40,000 will get to view over 150 feature and short films. Outfest is a prominent figure in the film festival arena, holding the title of the oldest film festival in Los Angeles.

The Achievement Award Ceremony will start off the Opening Night Gala on July 12th at the Orpheum Theater. Distinguished awards will be given out within the following categories: Grand Jury Awards, Programming Awards, and Audience Awards. The Grand Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature, the Special Programming Award for Emerging Talent, and the Audience Award for Best Experimental Short will be just a few of the many impressive awards given out that evening.

Following the ceremony will be the showing of Studio 54, a stunningly sentimental Matt Tyrnauer documentary, showcasing candid interviews with a multitude of famous patrons and behind the scenes individuals of highly celebrated nightclubs during their peak.

The festival will close at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel with a screening of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, a dramatic coming of age film about a young homosexual girl who is sent to a conversion camp, starring Chloe Grace Moretz. Additionally, the Outfest Forward program offers panels and one-on-one meetings to tighten the connection between the LGBTQ and Film communities.
