Roseanne reboot canceled in response to lead actress racist remarks.

Popular tv reboot, Roseanne was set to film season two in the fall but was quickly canceled after Roseanne Barr’s racist twitter rant.

ABC was slow to release a remark but when they did they said it was a clear decision between right and wrong, despite red flags of Barr’s other controversial tweets.

Barr’s tweets ranged from pro-Trump banter to attacking Chelsea Clinton. But this time she targeted Valerie Jarrett, an aide to the Obama administration.

Barr tweeted, “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” Barr later released a statement saying it was a joke.

“Roseanne” Reboot Cancelled After Roseanne Barr Claimed Obama’s Black Former White House Advisor Was A Product of ”Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes”- Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #RoseanneBarr’s “Roseanne” reboot has officially been cancelled at ABC after she posted racially-charged tweets targeting former Obama White House adviser #ValerieJarrett. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Tuesday, the sitcom-comedian took to Twitter and responded to a tweet that accused Jarrett of helping Obama administration “hide” illegal activity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Barr’s tweet read: “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Jarrett who is a 61-year-old Black woman worked for Obama for both of his terms as president. A few hours later, Barr came back to Twitter to apologize, saying she made a “bad joke.” “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me — my joke was in bad taste,” said Barr. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, her apology carried no weight, as Twitter users, celebs and journalists responded to her careless “joke” and even pointed out ABC’s tolerance of her poor behavior. NBC’s Joe Scarborough tweeted, “Hey @ABC, Roseanne Barr compared Valerie Jarrett to an ape. There is no apology she can make that justifies @ABC turning a blind eye to this bigotry by airing another second of her show,” he tweeted. “Even in the Age of Trump, there are red lines that can never be crossed. This is one.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #Roseanne has had a long history of controversial statements that are often bigoted and insensitive. In her rebooted show she also highlights her pro-Trump ideologies. As a result, the network pulled the plug on the sitcom, saying, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” the ABC Entertainment President said.
