Ariana Grande’s Love Letter to the LGBTQ Community
As the outspoken ally that she is, Ari expressed her sentiments beautifully for pride month.
Billboard asked multiple celebrities such as Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera to write “love letters” to the LGBTQ community this June, and the “No Tears Left To Cry” singer knocked hers out of the park.
Given that her older brother and idol Frankie is gay, the LGBTQ community has always been a huge inspiration to her. She’s headlined pride events, spoken out against homophobia in interviews, and time after time she’s proven herself to be a strong advocate for gay rights.
“My music being embraced and celebrated by the LGBTQ community is all I ever truly cared about when I thought about my career goals early on,” wrote the 24-year-old pop sensation, “There’s no award I could win or accolade I could receive that would fulfill me more than seeing a 6-foot queen with a 4-foot ponytail walk into my meet n greet and say ‘hey girl’ or meeting a young queer person at Starbucks and them letting me know that my music has helped them become who they are. Literally nothing.”
She finished the heartfelt message, “Thank you for celebrating me the way I celebrate you. I love you forever.”
