Serena Williams’ Black Catsuit Banned at French Open

Serena Williams’ infamous catsuit is now banned from being worn on the court. Serena expressed that the suit made her feel like a “warrior” and a “queen from Wakanda.”
Catsuit anyone? For all the moms out there who had a tough recovery from pregnancy—here you go. If I can do it, so can you. Love you all!! pic.twitter.com/xXb3BKDGNF

This crackdown began when the French Tennis Federation began to introduce harsher regulations of what can and cannot be worn on the court. According to Associated Press French Tennis Federation, President Bernard Giudicelli explained that “sometimes we go too far” in regards to Serena’s suit. He went on to say “it will no longer be accepted, one must respect the game and the place”. As well as making Serena feel like a superhero warrior, her catsuit also practically saved her life.

After the birth of her daughter Olympia last year, Serena suffered from multiple blood-clots claiming that she doesn’t know how many she’s had in the past 12 months, according to NPR. She goes on to tell reporters that she’s been “wearing pants a lot in general when I play so I can keep the blood circulation going. It’s a fun suit, but also functional so I can play without any problems.
We will wait and see if they reverse this decision that seems highly unfair and problematic towards players and their right to fashion that benefits their health on the court.
For now, Serena can be seen in a black tutu and remains unbothered.
They didn’t like the cat suit, so Serena Williams went with the Azealia Banks-inspired ( “Broke With Expensive Taste” /”F.U.”) outfit instead. So, she’s whoopin’ @$$ in a damn tutu. Clever. I see you, GRRL!!! pic.twitter.com/0y3QO7gJON
