Steph Curry Stands up for Gender Equality

Steph Curry posted an essay to The Players’ Tribune expressing his passion for gender equality, and how it has strengthened after years of being a father to two girls.

The NBA player kicked off his inspiring message, titled “This Is Personal,” by gushing about his six-year-old daughter, Riley, and her newly-formulated dreams in awe of her successful parents. Raising a girl that will one day enter the workforce, Curry has become more aware of the pay gap between men and women, and the importance of working toward changing it.

“I want our girls to grow up knowing that there are no boundaries that can be placed on their futures, period,” Curry says.

The athlete also discussed the girl’s basketball camp he recently hosted. Reflecting fondly on his experience, he views the camp as a tool for eliminating the stigma of women in the sports world.

Having a male athlete stand up for females in all aspects of the workforce is undoubtedly a progressive step toward equality. The essay radiates proud feminism and keeps a light shining on gender inequalities that need to be changed.
