Sandra Oh Makes Emmy History

History went down at last night’s 2018 Emmy Awards.

Sandra Oh was nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in BBC America’s Killing Eve, in which she portrays the show’s main character, Eve. The nomination titles Oh the first Asian-American woman to be nominated for a lead actress Emmy.

The actress was nominated alongside Claire Foy, Keri Russell, Elisabeth Moss, Tatiana Maslany, and Evan Rachel Wood. The award was gifted to Claire Foy, for her role in The Crown. During her acceptance speech, Foy expressed her love toward Oh, claiming that “this wasn’t supposed to happen” in regards to preventing Oh from further making history. Despite not winning, the nomination in itself was a progressive step forward.
