The song also celebrates the generations of people who have, in both the past and present, made waves to create positive change and uphold the rights of themselves through protest. The message of the song is clear: people will always fight for equality and for the right to be respected and seen. However, that change can only occur if people get out and demand it.
The lyric, music video first features archival footage of previous peaceful protests being projected onto a screen in a dark room. Kesha’s voice then flows in the foreground as the lyrics are projected onto the screens. A group of mainly young adults and parents with their children then gather together holding up picket signs and cheering for each other. The video ends with a banner encouraging the viewers to register to vote either by texting “CHANGE” to 40649 or by visiting the website for the non-profit organization HeadCount.
“Here Comes The Change” is now available for purchase or listen through sources such as iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, or Google Play.
On the Basis of Sex will be released in theaters on December 25th, 2018.
