She is a very well known director all around the world. Her movie Capernaum hit theaters Dec. 14th, 2018. It has reached 3.122 million in the U.S box office alone. Capernaum is based on a 12-year-old boys life. The actor who plays 12-year-old Zain is, in fact, a Syrian Refugee.

In the film, he is suing his parents because he claims that giving him life was a crime. He then flees, meets refugees and dips himself in some trouble. He faces many real-life problems that many people face.

The movie shows a side of the world we do not often see. It portrays real-life situations that happen on the other side of the world. In the trailer, you will see that Nadine wanted to create a moving, realistic film to touch the heart of others. Many of the cast members had no experience in acting. She wanted to make the movie as realistic as possible and wanted them to demonstrate their everyday lives.

Actress Salma Hayek has been a fan of Nadine’s. She expressed the gratitude she had when the news broke about Nadine being nominated for an Oscar. Nadine creates history by being the first Lebanese filmmaker nominated for the Oscars. Filmmakers like Nadine bring issues to light through their work. Good luck to Nadine and all of the nominees. The Oscars will take place on Feb. 24th, so stay tuned.
