Give Duo Majid Jordan a Listen
Singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman make up the electro/soul duo Majid Jordan.
Majid and Jordan met each other at Majid’s birthday party at a bar in Toronto, Canada in 2011 and formed Majid Jordan. Both attended the University of Toronto and they began working on music in Jordan’s dorm room the same week they met. They released their first single Hold Tight in just one day and posted it anonymously on Soundcloud. They later launched their first joint EP named Afterhours on SoundCloud under the moniker Good People. Their Afterhours EP impressed Noah “40” Shebib, Toronto rapper Drake’s producer, and he signed them to OVO Sound record label.
In 2013 Majid Jordan featured on and co-produced Drake’s hit single Hold on, We’re Going Home, and this brought them an influx of new fans and followers. In 2014 they released their debut EP A Place Like This digitally through OVO Sound. In 2016, the duo released a self-titled debut album by OVO Sound, and it featured a song with Drake called My Love. In 2017 they released their second album titled The Space Between.
Give their music a listen and you may fall for their combinations of synth-pop and R&B sounds coupled with fun, stylized videos.
My mother delivered me in Wiesbaden, Germany. I have an African-American father and German mother. I lived there until I reached around age 8 and we moved to Saint Louis, MO. I now attend Truman State University in Kirksville, MO aiming to complete an English major with a Film Studies minor since I enjoy thinking of creative concepts and analyzing film.
