Anderson Paak, stylized Anderson .Paak, sings, produces, raps, and writes funky hip-hop and R&B that combines unexpected sounds that accent and support each other to create beautiful melodies and beats.

.Paak plays multiple instruments and grew up in Oxnard, California. As a teenager in his bedroom, he began producing music while in high school. He first performed in church as a drummer where he met his first wife, who he divorced after a few years. Teaching at a music school, Paak met a music student named Jaylyn from South Korea who became his second wife and they have a son named Soul Rasheed. In 2011, he lost his job on a marijuana farm without forewarning and he became homeless with his wife and kid. That same year, musician Shafiq Husayn gave him a job, helping him financially recover, and all the while he kept working on his debut album as he gained acceptance in the L.A. music scene.

He released the album titled O.B.E. Vol. 1 in 2012. In 2013 he released an EP called Cover Art, which featured only covers of songs. The 1950s era inspired him to do all covers, reminiscing upon how white musicians remade black R&B songs with little to no compensation given to the black artists. He flipped this on its head and took folk and rock classics from white musicians and transformed them to include soul, jazz, funk, and hip-hop elements. He released his debut album as Anderson .Paak in 2014 called Venice. His next 2016 album, Malibu, notably raised his recognition and carved out his unique musical lane while receiving much critical acclaim. He put out his third album entitled Oxnard, which has a heavy funk feel and features including Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole. Recently he released his most recent album Ventura on April 2019.
