Bibhu Mohapatra Celebrates American Diversity with Spring/Summer 2020 Collection
Mohapatra’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection is powered by the book: Nothing Personal by James Baldwin and Richard Avedon.
Bibhu Mohapatra taps into the artistic voices of those who helped shape American culture. Mohapatra was inspired by high school friends James Baldwin and Richard Avedons, who wrote Nothing Personal, an examination of American identity. “The collection is a celebration of American Beauty and its diverse identity of strength, courage, and originality,” explains Mohapatra.
Mohapatra gets “nothing but personal” as he truly captured the essence of beauty with a diverse group of models who were presented with clean, fresh-looking makeup. Several of the models wore Forevermark diamonds in their hair as they embodied poise and elegance.
The breathtaking show took place at Spring Studios in Manhattan, New York. As each model glided down the runway to a calming melody, a palette of soft and elegant colors such as blue, mango and pink swept the audience away.
Mohapatra combined both traditional and sleek gowns with handwoven embroideries and luxurious textiles to create a raw and original look for his Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
