Oxford Fashion Studio Stuns at the Royal Opera House During LFW

Oxford Fashion Studio took the stage in London, England on Sunday afternoon of September 14, 2019 to showcase their biggest designers. 

The various collections gave a range of elegant designs expanding across 12 different countries worldwide. From evening wear, to street-style denim to military chic, and branching out a wide range of women’s fashion, you can see a mixture of designs at the event.

The main goal of the event is designed to highlight the works of over 700 independent fashion designers from over 70 countries worldwide, who have been working for over the past 10 years.

Pera May debuted an SS20 collection titled “society rules, enjoy your stay” that brought a sense of whimsy to the fashion runway. The styles carried a sophisticated yet rich texture feel to the collection.

The strategically layered outfit consisted of inspired textures from forms of stone’s and interpreted in Pavlina’s unique avantgardistic way. Ribbons fell from the all-white and black tailored menswear-inspired pieces with a black top layering over the top.

The neutral tones and tailored silhouettes with sheer designs of Point Zero One reminded the audience of the Chinese cultural designs and the seriousness that comes out of their work.

Bold white polka dot pieced together with a bit of black adds to the eighties whimsical feel the set brings into fashion. The South African designer, Mercia Ramagaga, skillfully detailed the top in sheer chiffon and articulate peplum details.

Garth Asham’s collection had pieces of black satin gowns that cascaded down the runway with beading embroidered down the back in bright and bold colors of rose red on the chest line. The evening gowns took on a modern gothic meets sophistication look.

Isabel Mann’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection brings in inspiration from British 1960’s fashion and retaining a feminist outlook. The patterns were stemmed from the designer’s own artwork ranging from bright florals and abstract brushstrokes, creating a romantic Monet-like effect.

We saw military chic being a huge inspiration behind this collection by Amaranthine Atelier and playing on the designer’s Indonesian heritage. The collection was named “Sang Pejuang Tanah Air” (Heroes of our homeland), and paid tribute to the Battle of Surabaya and is now being commemorated for every November to remember the soldiers who fought in the battle.

The Label’s debut collection was named “Withering,” and featured pieces of inspired Gothic architecture, Victorian-era fashion, and roses within the life cycle. Lace detailed the sheer trains that overlaid the cocktail dresses.

The collection by Maria Barreca was designed as the designer’s tribute to the Great Gatsby film and introducing a look into the 1920’s era. The line focused on specific colors and flowing fabrics of this bygone era, yet maintaining modern necklines.

The first finished collection by Rawya Othman curated the everyday female with pieces meant for casual wear yet chic meetings and events. The denim collection added constructed details with white piping adding a crisp, cool element. It adds a bit of a must-have to the closet.

The collection titled “Let’s Play” by Lexlo came from the inspiration of helping one another. Each feature was built for raising awareness towards adult anxiety while spilling out fashion as well. Pom detailed patterns expressed on the pants and perfectly placed fringe and ruffle seen throughout.

The collection named “Riviera” by Nicole Jedelsky encapsulated every given aspect of an unforgettable Italian holiday. Vivid, bright and bold pieces took down the runway. Exaggerated drape and elegant tailoring told a story of true femininity. Bright orange, red and yellow’s gave an array of colors that can be seen from the fisherman’s houses in sunny island venetian town of Burano.
