Charli XCX and Troye Sivan have reunited as a duo on the newly released single “2099’” from Charli’s latest album “Charli.”

The promotional single is a sequel to the album’s first single “1999” that gave listeners a chance to step back into their childhood and relive all the ’90s nostalgia feels.  The song “2099” is the closing track on “Charli” and the album was just released on Sept. 13 on all digital music platforms.

The new song takes place 100 years later and gives us listeners a futuristic view on how pop music might sound 80 years from now. The futuristic song gives listeners an experience of jumping in a time machine and traveling to “2099” where apparently NASCAR still exists as mentioned in the song.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17 Charli and Troye Sivan released their new video for “2099” which this time takes us into the future unlike their last collaborative music video for “1999”. The video shows the duo on a lake, riding around on jet skis maneuvering around in bizarre ways while escaping a burning boat.

Later that night on Sept. 17, Charli appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”  and performed “Gone” with French singer Christine and the Queens. She then sat down with Fallon and discussed the new album and how personal the “Charli” album was for her. During the interview, she also elaborated on her MySpace days and the visual scenes of her “1999” music video.

The tour is supported by opening acts Tommy Genesis, Brooke Candy, Allie, and Dorian Electra on specific dates. You can find more information and upcoming tour dates here.
