Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson Joins the DC Entertainment Universe
The Rock lands a sweet new deal with the DC Entertainment Universe as Black Adam, a badass supervillain with superhuman strength, stamina and speed.
As the highest-paid actor in the world, The Rock has graced our screens with a plethora of unforgettable characters from iconic films such as The Mummy Returns, The Game Plan, Moana, Jumanji, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. Although Johnson typically plays the “good guy” in a lot of his roles, Black Adam will bring forth a new side of Johnson that’ll be amazing to witness on-screen.
Back in 2017, Johnson hinted at a possible role in a new film with an Instagram post regarding his meeting with the heads of DC. Johnson wrote, “As a hard-core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans, have all been waiting for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN…”
The Fast and Furious star has officially announced his role as Black Adam, a rebellious superhero who plays by his own rules. Johnson shares his excitement on Instagram with an official movie poster as the man in black. “This role is unlike any other I’veI’ve ever played in my career, and I’m grateful to the bone well we’ll all go on this journey together,” he said in his caption.
Johnson’s solo film, Black Adam, is set to premiere Dec. 22, 2021. We look forward to seeing The Rock tackle this unique role and bring it to life.
