Harry Styles debuted his first time as a host and musical performer on NBC’s Saturday Night Live with a variety of entertaining sketches and a performance of his newest single, “Watermelon Sugar.”

Harry Styles performed his double duty as both host and musical guest performer of Saturday Night Live this past weekend. Styles started off the night with a four-minute monologue discussing his first time hosting and being a musician while pretending to play the piano, and jokingly stated in the UK they play on the opposite side of the road.

As a host, Styles delivered a comical appeal to all his characters, even speaking in various accents. In multiple acts, Styles went beyond what viewers expected and was able to keep up with the fast tempo of delivering jokes to the audience while not breaking character.

Styles participated in many hilarious sketch scenes, which he perfectly executed. Some of the sketches included him performing as a funeral DJ with rip-away pants, an adorable chihuahua, a 1956 newsboy performer along with Mikey Day, Beck Bennett, and Cecily Strong in a parody of Gypsy, and a British intern.

Styles’ role in the “Baby Faye and Her Newsboys” have fans raving for Styles to perform in musicals, and fans noticed the photoshopped baby pictures used in the sketch.

As a musical guest, Styles performed his latest single “Lights Up” and revealed a new single, “Watermelon Sugar,” from his new album Fine Line during his second performance. With a thrilling brass section included in his performance in addition to a band ensemble, “Watermelon Sugar,” lit up the stage.
