Stormzy’s New Banger, ‘Own It’ Feat. Ed Sheeran + Burna Boy, is Fire
Ugh, cold weather is upon us, but we have heat thanks to Stormzy’s new single “Own It.”
Joining the fun in keeping this banger lit are Grammy nominees, Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy. The song was released ahead of Stormzy’s sophomore album, Heavy Is The Head. Look for it Dec. 13 and pre-order it here.
The song is hip and includes many musical flavors. It can best be described as having a South London flow mixed with a dance beat. The lyrics uplift and empower a female love interest, so ladies, this hit is for us.
The title of his second album is aptly named because, apart from making hits, the lyricist is a community leader, philanthropist, and author. Because of his noble efforts, he was honored with TIME Magazine’s top ten “Next Generation Leaders” and he was also given the cover of the special issue. Despite his busy schedule as a hip-hop star, the artist created a scholarship named “The Stormzy Scholarship” which awards two black students each year. You can add published author to his list of accomplishments. He penned the book, Rise Up: The Story So Far, which was released by Merky Books.
The artist is also a two-time BET award winner. In addition, he has also won awards from Teen Choice, British GQ, and MTV. Talk about the Midas touch.
