Watch out for Taylor Swift’s New Documentary
The Lana Wilson-directed film, Miss Americana, follows the life and career of Taylor Swift over the past several years.
Fans have known that Miss Americana was going to debut at the Sundance Music Festival on January 23, but the worldwide release date has been unknown. The Lover singer just announced that the documentary is going to be in select theaters and on Netflix on January 31.
Swift first announced the documentary in November 2019. While her public feud with Scooter Braun, Scott Borchetta, and her former label Big Machine Records was occurring, Swift revealed she was working on a documentary with Netflix that showcased her life.
Fortunately, Big Machine Records finally agreed to let Netflix and director Lana Wilson use Swift’s songs and performances in Miss Americana. The documentary is said to be very raw and emotional, showing us a side of Swift we haven’t seen before. In Netflix’s synopsis of the film, they say that Swift “learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.”
Taylor Swift has become more private in the last few years so fans are ready to see her in a new light. They are excited to see more behind the scenes of her day-to-day life.
