Get Ready for Bradley Cooper’s New Film

Mike Smith/NBC

Netflix grabbed Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein biopic produced by Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.

After launching two Oscar-nominated films, The Irishman and Marriage Story, Netflix is adding another prestigious film to its selection. Netflix recently received full rights to the untitled Leonard Bernstein biopic. Bradley Cooper will direct, star in, and produce in the film that he co-wrote with John Singer. There is also a great cast of producers including Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.

The film’s script is going to span 30 years of composer Leonard Bernstein’s life and his marriage to Felicia Montealegre. Production for the film is set to begin early next year. Netflix is also planning on providing a theatrical release before the film premieres, as it did for films such as The Irishman, in hopes of creating more excitement and views.

Cooper has been developing this project for over two years with help from Bernstein’s three children. He has a clear vision and passion for this story which will help him bring the relationship between Bernstein and Felicia to life.

The film is not considered a traditional biopic since a lot of the focus will be on Bernstein’s relationship, although the film will cover much of the composer’s incredible life. At the age of 25, Bernstein made his conducting debut at the New York Philharmonic when the conductor suddenly became ill.

This will be the fourth project Cooper has produced with Philips. It is the second film he is directing, his first being: A Star is Born. Be sure to keep up with Bradley Cooper, and keep an eye out for his new film on Netflix.
