The two teamed up to help a vulnerable segment of the population that needs more help now than ever.

Rihanna recently announced that the Clara Lionel Foundation, which she founded in 2012, and Jack Dorsey, co-founder and CEO of Twitter, will work together to address the huge surge in domestic violence cases that have taken place in Los Angeles since the lockdown took effect. The pair has donated $4.2 million already.

According to the Los Angeles Housing Authority, more people have been turned away every week from domestic violence shelters since the “Safer at Home” order took place. This means that so many people are being forced to live in dangerous places, and Rihanna and Dorsey want to stop this.

The funds will “provide 10 weeks of support for victims of domestic abuse including shelter, meals, and counseling for individuals and their children,” according to a press release statement. Rihanna has already donated $5 million herself to help fight the pandemic. Dorsey announced he will be donating $1 billion of his equity to combat coronavirus, in addition to other issues.
