In early May, Walmart paid out nearly $180 million dollars in bonuses to hourly associates working tirelessly amid the pandemic.

The bonus amount was a quarterly bonus that the company decided to advance for its employees. Just last month, the company paid out over half a billion dollars in bonuses to their employees to show gratitude towards efforts during this time of uncertainty.

“Walmart associates have gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers during these unprecedented times,” Walmart CEO and President Doug McMillon said previously. “We want to reward our associates for their hard work and recognize them for the work that is in front of us,” he continued.

This month bonuses are in addition to the special cash bonuses for all U.S. hourly associates that were distributed in April, consisting of $300 for full-timers and $150 for part-timers totaling more than $365 million paid out thus far to Walmart associates.

“We’ve seen firsthand our associates’ unwavering focus to take care of customers and members while providing a vital service to communities during this time,” Walmart executive Vice President Donna Morris says.

“Recognizing the hard work ahead of our associates as COVID-19 spreads and to help provide more cash in hand for them sooner we shared plans to accelerate the payout for our quarterly incentive,” she continues.

Donna Morris shares that more bonuses are to come for their employees next month.
