Rick Riordan Proudly Announces A Live-Action Percy Jackson Series Is Coming To Disney+
Attention demigods, Rick Riordan announced that a Percy Jackson TV series is coming to Disney+.
Rick Riordan is well known as the author of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. The 5-book series was instantly popular among teens and young adults, and fans are ecstatic that Riordan will be in control of every aspect of the TV series.
Previously, the first two books were adapted into films by 20th Century Fox in 2011 and 2013 (Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters). Unfortunately, fans and audiences alike agreed that both films were unfaithful to the source material. Even Riordan himself confessed that he disliked the films and criticized the script. This was enough for the studio to stop making the rest of the three films, and for nearly a decade, fans have been wondering if there would ever be a reliable adaption that reflects the true spirit of the books.
Ever since Disney repurchased 20th Century Fox in 2017 and the rights technically belonged to them, fans got excited that a second chance of another Percy Jackson adaptation might happen. The door seems to be open with the launch of Disney+ back in November of 2019. Fans were hyped with the idea of Disney+ adapting the series and even Riordan was keen on.
Riordan finally confirmed the news of a Percy Jackson TV series for Disney+ and expressed his excitement through his social media accounts. He stated that he and his wife Becky will be involved in every aspect of the show and promised the fans that they will bring the series to life onscreen.
