Groove to She & Him’s Fabulous Cover of the Beach Boys’ ‘Darlin’

She & Him/Columbia Records

Quarantine may have presented musical artists with a number of unprecedented challenges, but indie folk duo She & Him have met those challenges in stride.

The much-loved musical duo released a groovy cover of The Beach Boys classic, “Darlin’”, this past Monday. As evidenced by their socially-isolated music video, She & Him recorded the track long-distance. But distance or no distance, this band will always “find a way” to make it rock.

She & Him (which is composed of multi-talented actress Zooey Deschanel and folk icon M. Ward,)  has released a prolific 6 albums since 2008 (including 2011’s A Very She & Him Christmas, which earned the duo an IMPALA silver award). The bands’ cover of  “Darlin’” was piloted on their 2019 Christmas tour, during which they played the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Deschanel has been active on social media during quarantine, bringing entertainment into the homes of fans around the world. She has hosted several virtual game nights on Instagram, and will be a “Houseparty Host” for the app’s In The House festival

For M. Ward, the quarantine came at an unfortunate time. The alternative folk star’s 11th studio album, Migration Stories, was released on April 3rd. The spring release resulted in the cancellation/postponement of Ward’s spring and summer tour dates. In spite of adverse circumstances, Ward has still effectively promoted Migration Stories through long-distance performances with La Blogotheque, The Late Show, and other outlets.

Be sure to give She & Him’s nifty cover a listen!
