Rock Out To Phoebe Bridgers’ New Song ‘I See You’

Dead Oceans

Acclaimed indie rocker Phoebe Bridgers has given fans another glimpse of her upcoming album, Punisher, which will be released on June 19th through Dead Oceans.

Bridgers’ fans know her as something of a music prodigy. The twenty-five-year-old spent much of her childhood making and performing music in Los Angeles before becoming a “break-out” star with her 2017 album, Stranger in the Alps. Although Punisher will be Bridgers’ first solo album since Stranger in the Alps’ release, she has been far from idle these past three years. In 2018, Bridgers teamed up with fellow indie-folk stars Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus to form the all-female super-group, boygenius. Bridgers continued collaborating in 2019 when she joined forces with acclaimed music icon Conor Oberst to form Better Oblivion Community Center.

‘I See You’ is the third track from Punisher that Bridgers has released. It is preceded by ‘Garden Song’ and ‘Kyoto’, both of which were met with positive feedback from fans and critics alike. ‘I See You’ epitomizes what fans love about Bridgers’ work. From its sonically rich sound to its raw and unrestrained lyrics, the track has already struck a chord with listeners. Moreover, its music video is visually stunning and full of witchy, silent movie vibes.

When discussing the inspiration behind ‘I See You’, Bridgers explained that the song is about her relationship with long-time musical collaborator, ex-boyfriend, and drummer, Marshall Vore, who helped her with the track.

In tandem with the release of ‘I See You’, Dead Oceans and Bridgers have announced the upcoming “Phoebe Bridgers’ World Tour”, occurring between May 26th and June 6th. Due to quarantine, Bridgers’ “world tour” will be hosted via Livestream from the various rooms of her house (including the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom). Bridgers’ spunky approach to COVID touring has given her fans just one more reason to get psyched for Punisher.
