Be Sure to Follow John Krasinski’s ‘Some Good News’ as It Moves to CBS
In the span of eight episodes, Some Good News seemed to deliver almost anything: a prom, a wedding, and even a message from space. Now, the show is moving to CBS All Access, a streaming platform owned by ViacomCBS.
Created by John Krasinski, the first episode of Some Good News aired on March 29, 2020, on YouTube. “For years now, I’ve been wondering, ‘Why is there not a news show dedicated entirely to good news?'” Krasinski said on the show’s debut episode. “I thought, ‘Alright, enough is enough, world. Why not us? Why not now?’ So, ladies and gentlemen, this is your fault, and this is SGN.”
With the intent of sharing some positivity during quarantine, Krasinski featured good news from around the world, including messages to healthcare workers, teachers, local grocery stores, and more. Genuine and hilarious, SGN brought everything from surprise Hamilton and The Office reunions to A-list stars like Brad Pitt and Emma Stone showing up to report on the weather. Most importantly, Kasinski brought little bits of life that everyone was missing—baseball, graduation, and theatre, to name a few—to special fans and to the channel’s dedicated viewers.
The show quickly exploded: it currently has 2.75 million followers on YouTube, with the first episode having over 17 million views.

On May 22, it was announced that the show was acquired by ViacomCBS, and it will be regularly featured on CBS All Access. Although it is still too soon to tell how this transition will impact the show’s format, Kasinski will no longer be its host. Luckily, he will still be involved in the making of SGN in some capacity.
“I have been so blown away by all the messages I have received saying how joyful this show makes you, how uplifted and inspired you all can be,” Krasinski shared in the heartfelt ending of the show’s final episode. “But I assure you, all of the pleasure and all of the inspiration has been mine.”
