Halsey Stands up for Black Lives Matter in Los Angeles Protest

Halsey exercised her right to stand up for fellow citizens in a Los Angeles protest.
Halsey attended the protest on Saturday, May 30th to call for justice for George Floyd. Using her social media platform, she detailed her experience, saying that she sustained a bruise from a rubber bullet. She also posted that she was gassed several times despite her attempts to be peaceful. Halsey stated she plans on protesting again.

The singer explained that patriotism requires a willingness to stand up for others and called others to follow in her footsteps.
A true patriot is someone who will rebel against the government if it becomes necessary, to protect the greater good of their fellow citizens. We are patriots.

Halsey is no stranger to social justice, she gave a speech at the Women’s March in D.C. in 2018 that was seen by people around the globe. In her speech she spoke out against sexual abuse, recalling her own experiences in a poem called “A Story Like Mine.”
Halsey took to Instagram on Thursday to raise awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement after Floyd’s death.
