Cole Sprouse Protests for Black Lives Matter and Urges Fans to Support
Cole Sprouse was arrested Sunday during a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest in Santa Monica.
Sprouse took to Instagram to tell followers that we all must do our part to initiate change and to explain why protesting is essential to catalyze change.
“Peace, riots, looting, are an absolutely legitimate form of protest,” said Sprouse in an Instagram post. “The media is by nature only going to show the most sensational, which only proves a long-standing racist agenda.”
Sprouse and other protesters were told that if they did not retreat they would be arrested, but police officers blocked the route to leave, binding the wrists of Sprouse and others with zip ties.
“This is, and will be, a time about standing ground near others as a situation escalates, providing educated support, demonstrating and doing the right thing,” said Sprouse. “This is precisely the time to contemplate what it means to stand as an ally. I hope others in my position do as well.”
Sprouse has posted a link in his Instagram story (@colesprouse) to a document that includes resources for accountability and action for black lives. You can view the document by clicking here.
