Kehlani Calls for the Music Industry to Donate During BlackOutTuesday

Arturo Torres\Atlantic Records

Singer Kehlani is continuing her support of the Black Lives Matter movement and wants the music industry to do more.

In the past few days, many celebrities, brands, and people are using their platforms to bring awareness to the issues happening in America. They are shining a light in support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement and calling for the end of police brutality following the death of George Floyd.

On Monday, the singer took to Twitter to call out the music industry for their lack of support for black artists, listeners, and supporters while also using black culture for their own benefits. This comes after some record labels announced that they will not stream or release music in support of  #BlackOutTuesday. Kehlani also went on to say that this industry will still continue to make money regardless of whether new music is released or streamed and that they should donate the money they raised to bail out protestors.

Instead of BlackOutTuesday, She encourages us to participate in #TheShowMustBePaused.

Kehlani is also encouraging her followers to support black-owned businesses that have suffered damages caused by looting in her home town of Oakland, California.

Kehlani will continue to support the Black Lives Matter movement and we encourage you to stay informed about what you can do to help out in your community. For more information about supporting the BLM movement and justice for George Floyd visit the BLM website at https://blacklivesmatter.com/
