Ellen DeGeneres Uses Her Platform to Seek Justice and Fairness for All

In an emotional and heartfelt message, Ellen DeGeneres shares her stance on equality.

Actor, comedian, and TV personality Ellen DeGeneres has shared an emotional and vulnerable video publicly voicing her stance on the current state of the country.

It’s #PrideMonth. The protests that came before me allowed me to be the out, successful person I am. I support the protestors demanding change now. We can do better, and I’m starting with myself. I’m committed to using my platform to effect change. #BlackLivesMatter

After sharing messages to her Twitter and Instagram platforms, DeGeneres showed how the recent events of social injustice and equality have weighed on her. “I have a platform and I have a voice and I have always stood for equality,” DeGeneres says to her viewers, “Maybe you don’t agree with how it’s coming out, but you have to understand it. And maybe we can heal it.”

In a very emotional state, DeGeneres continues to speak about fairness and justice for all. With the protests and riots that began after the tragic death of George Floyd, DeGeneres has openly announced the organizations she has donated to, including the LDF and Black Lives Matter. She has encouraged her fans to do the same.

After holding back tears, DeGeneres pleads that we seek fairness and justice with the hopes of finding peace and communication. The video, which was shared on June 1 to all of DeGeneres’ social media platforms, has over 7 million views on her Instagram account.
