Disney Pledges to Donate $5 Million to Support Non-Profit Organizations, Starting With NAACP
Disney has pledged to donate $5 million to support non-profit organizations that advance social justice.
Bob Chapek, the chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company stated, “The killing of George Floyd has forced our nation to once again confront the long history of injustice that black people in America have suffered, and it is critical that we stand together, speak out and do everything in our power to ensure that acts of racism and violence are never tolerated”. He further emphasized that the money will be used to support the efforts of non-profit organizations to guarantee equality and eradicate injustice.

This is not the first time Disney has supported organizations that championed social justice. In the past, Disney has supported communities of color and provided grants for students from unrepresented groups to help them receive higher education and ultimately make their dreams become a reality.

Most recently, The Walt Disney Company aired special programs on several TV networks to address the issues of inequality and racism. Disney has also released a statement and stated that they stand against racism and stand with their fellow Black employees, storytellers, creators, and the entire Black community.
